Prof. Mark Johnson is a Professor of Materials Science and Engineering and Director of the Center for Advanced Manufacturing at Clemson University. His work focuses on the investigation of clean-energy technologies, entrepreneurship, and innovation in advanced manufacturing, materials and semiconductors. He has been a federal government official and a technology venture entrepreneur.
In 2019, he was the Fulbright-Hall Distinguished Visiting Professor at the Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Vienna (Austria).
From 2013-2017, he was Director of Advanced Manufacturing Office for the US Department of Energy.
From 2010-2013, he was Program Director for the US Advanced Research Projects Agency – Energy (ARPA-E).
Prof. Johnson earned his Ph.D. from NC State and his S.B. from MIT, both in in Materials Science and Engineering.
