Jeff Rhodehamel received his B.S. in Microbiology, M.S. and Ph.D. in Food Science and Technology all from Virginia Tech. Dr. Rhodehamel worked in the industry before coming to academia. He was with the FDA for seven years and spent several years with Sara Lee Corporation. Rhodehamel then spent 18 years of his career with the Sealed Air Corporation where he served various positions in R&D and most recently as the Executive Director of the Global R&D for Food and Beverage. He joined Clemson University in August of 2013 as the Food, Nutrition, and Packaging Science Department Chair and Professor. His role provided leadership in maintaining and advancing strong teaching, outreach and research programs. Dr. Rhodehamel worked closely with faculty to develop strong working relations with the food and packaging industries. His own research activities have resulted in numerous publications and presentations. He stepped down from the Department Chair role in December 2019 and currently serves as the Research Director for the FRESH Initiative.
