Printpack, Inc.
Alan graduated with a B.S. in Packaging Science from Clemson University in 2013. Upon graduation, Alan joined Conagra Brands where he served as a packaging engineer on the Frozen Foods team. Along with his commercial team experience, Alan was also a core member of the Packaging Sustainability team where he led the How2Recycle integration across all brands and assessed multiple Lifecycle Analysis tools to quantify environmental impact.
Alan joined Printpack’s Product Development Engineer team in 2017 where he was able to utilize his CPG experience to support multiple strategic customers. Alan quickly became the Subject Matter Expert for Printpack’s Coffee/Tea platform, where Alan serviced leading coffee brands. Through this work, Alan became an expert in understanding high-barrier packaging needs, rotogravure and digital printing processes, and sustainable packaging solutions for coffee. Alan’s work within sustainable coffee package made for a smooth transition into his Sr. Product Stewardship Engineer role in 2020. Alan was tasked with developing / commercializing Printpack’s compostable structure portfolio to be utilized across the business, while understanding and educating on compostable certifications and processes. Alan serves as the Printpack liaison with BPI, participating member of the BPI Standards and Procedure Committee and BPI Communications Committee, as well as on the SPC Composting Collaborative. The favorite thing about his role is being able to work with customers to help educate on the nuances of compostable packaging, and to work together to find functionable, sustainable solutions.
